Round 5 of the WSBK championship brings us to the famous Imola or to give it its full title Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, It got this name after Ferrari’s late owner Enzo and his son Dino who died in 1956. The track has claimed many victims in its long history including the legendary Ayrton Senna in 1994, Recently Joan Lascorz was involved in a major accident during a test crashing into an unprotected concrete wall at almost 200 km/h leaving him paralyzed ending his promising career.

At the last round Jonathan Rea cemented his place at the head of the WSBK pack with 2 wins around Assen. Tom Sykes, Michael Van Der Mark,Chaz Davies and Nicky Hayden also stood on the podium but none of them could live with Rea. The big stand from the last round for me though was Lorenzo Savadori who came away from the weekend with a 6th and 4th place. This weekend I feel with his confidence up Rea will be hard to beat around another of his favorite circuits. I think Davies and Sykes will battle it out for the other podiums spots with the Hondas just behind, Davide Giugliano will be hoping to kick start his season in front of his home fans the italian seems to be more restrained than in recent seasons whether this is down to Ducati or the recent injuries he has suffered his results have certainly fell sharply this season.
So far this year my predictions have not gone well so if your betting on this weekends races go the opposite way I do.
