Donington Park hosts Round 7 of the WSBK championship,The track is located near Castle Donington and was originally part of the Donington Hall estate. The track was leased by Donington Ventures Leisure Ltd in 2007 but went through a rocky patch as of late with a failed bid to host the British round of the F1 world championship caused the circuit owners to not only lose the F1 and Moto GP rounds but also fall into bankruptcy. In 2009 the track was returned to the Wheatcroft family the original owners of he track.
Lap Record: 2015 J. Rea 1’27.914
Superpole: 2015 T.Sykes 1’27.071
Lap of the Circuit with Ron Haslam from 2013:
As has been the way for much of this season Tom Sykes,Johnny Rea and Chaz Davies dominated this race weekend last season. Sykes won both races by extensive margins from Rea in both races with Davies finishing both races in 3rd. This season its hard to see past these three again as they have looked dominant all season. Michael Van Der Mark,Nicky Hayden and Davide Giugliano will be hoping they can play spoiler this weekend but without some wet weather it is difficult to see this happening. Josh Brookes could be a man to watch this weekend the current BSB champion has struggled to adapt to the new BMW but has knowledge of the Donington circuit and will be hoping for a strong showing in front of the British fans. Alex Lowes will be competing this weekend but is only a week or so removed from breaking his collar bone so unfortunately for British fans it is hard to see him mixing it with the front guys this weekend.
