Round 2 of the 2017 season takes us back to the Chang international race circuit the circuit has been in operation since 2014 with WSBK and WSS making their debut in 2015, The track was roundly praised by all riders and produced close racing. Last season it was the battle of the Kawasaki’s with Rea and Sykes swapping wins Van Der Mark joined them on the podium in race one and Davies took third in race two.
POLE POSITION: Left
RIGHT CORNERS: 7
LEFT CORNERS: 5
LAP RECORD: J.Rea 2015 1″33.817
After two brilliant races at the first round Jonathan Rea got his championship off to the perfect start taking the two wins coming home ahead of Chaz Davies in both races the two of them seemed to have a little extra over everyone else in the field. Tom Sykes and Marco Melandri both had strong outings as did Alex Lowes who seemed to have got to grips with his R1 after a trying year last season.
The Honda’s of Stefan Bradl and Nicky Hayden will both be hoping for much stronger showings with both in the bottom end of the championship table already a long way off the championship lead. Eugene Laverty and Lorenzo Savadori both showed well in the races after looking well off the pace in testing.
